Scholarship Guidelines
The Rotary Club of Lillington will award four one-year scholarships, each valued at $1,000.00.
We are seeking students who have excelled scholastically, who have a financial need, and who have demonstrated a history of community service during their high school career.
One-Year Scholarships
Deadline: May 23, 2023
The four $1,000.00 scholarships are not renewable and are for entering freshmen attending a four year college or university from either Western Harnett High School or Central Harnett High School. If selected the student must provide satisfactory enrollment confirmation from the Registrar of the college or university that the student will attend.
For each of these scholarships, please be advised that the Rotary Club of Lillington expects you to meet the following requirements if you are selected to receive a scholarship award.
- Attend and complete education at a four-year college or university.
- Be a senior student from either Western Harnett High School or Central Harnett High School.
- Take part in community service and school activities each year and submit a list of such service and activities to the club’s Scholarship Committee
- Attend at least one meeting of the Rotary Club of Lillington during the year in which you receive the scholarship award, and briefly speak to the club about your college and community service experiences.
To apply for a scholarship, download and fill out the Scholarship Application, and turn it in to your school counselor who will submit it to the Rotary Club of Lillington’s Scholarship Committee in the spring of your senior year.
Payment will be sent to the Financial Aid Office upon receipt of enrollment confirmation from the Registrar’s office of the college or university.

The Reid Ross Scholarship for Prospective Educators (not available this year)
The Reid Ross Scholarship for Prospective Educators is a four-year renewable scholarship, and must be re-authorized by the Club’s Scholarship Committee each year. The minimal criteria to receive the second, third, and fourth year’s funds are as follows:
- Be a senior student from either Western Harnett High School or Central Harnett High School.
- Continue to pursue a career in education.
- Attend and complete education at a four year college or university.
- Maintain a GPA of 2.75 or better and submit a copy of your transcripts to the scholarship committee of the Rotary Club of Lillington by June 30th of each year.
- Take part in community service and school activities each year and submit a list of such service and activities annually to the scholarship committee.
- Attend at least one of the weekly meetings of the Rotary Club of Lillington each year and briefly speak to the club about your college and community service experience.
If a student is unable to meet the requirements for receiving their scholarship for subsequent years, then he/she will not be eligible to receive future scholarship funds.
It will be the duty of the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, upon receipt of the Ross Scholar’s transcripts demonstrating achievement of a 2.75 GPA or greater, to release the succeeding year’s funds to the Financial Aid Office of the student’s college or university, with the full name of the student for which funds are being disbursed, the student’s school ID number, and the amount authorized.
